The Flyfire canvas can transform itself from one shape to another or morph a two-dimensional photographic image into an articulated shape. The pixels are physically engaged in transitioning images from one state to another, which allows the Flyfire canvas to demonstrate a spatially animated viewing experience. Flyfire serves as an initial step to explore and imagine the possibilities of this free-form display: a swarm of pixels in a space.

Bots4Tots is a charity which provides Chicago-area children with an opportunity to build robots. The goal of the project is to help children, especially those who would otherwise not have the means, learn about robotics by supplying them with a beginners robotics kit and the help needed to complete their first robotics project.

For a $25 donation, a child receives a beginners robotics kit to build a robot.

Exposing children to robotics at an early age is one of the best things we can do to help get them interested in robotics, as well as science and technology in general. I sure wish I had been exposed to robotics at an earlier age. This charity will definitely help inspire and encourage kids to take an interest in robotics.

For every $25.00 donation, 1 child gets:

• A complete build-your-own-robot kit, that he or she will assemble at our workshop and take home that day.
• A fun and engaging environment in which to build his or her robot: the classroom located at the Robot City Workshop store.
• All the tools the child will need to complete the build-your-own-robot kit, courtesy of the Robot City Workshop.
• Helpful guidance for those often-tricky instructions: Bots 4 Tots Founders, Don and Alexis, as well as Robot City Workshop employees will be available to assist the child because we want them to succeed at their first attempt! (They’ll have their fair share of trouble-shooting down the line if they pick up the hobby!)

The sponsor, Robot City Workshop offers a robotics workshop. Spots are limited to five children per session to ensure one-on-one attention.
